BoMill joins Terrra Food & Agtech Accelerator28 September 2018. Author: admin

Selected to team up with multinational leaders including Nestle, GrainCorp and Tate & Lyle to fuel ground-breaking transformation in Food and Agriculture.

Malmö – September 25, 2018: TERRA, the leading Food and Agriculture Accelerator, has selected BoMill into its third cohort kicking off next week at the San Francisco – near the tech campus of program founder RocketSpace – one of the program’s founding partners. BoMill was selected as one of the 17 most innovative startups from across the globe to work alongside industry giants including founding partner Rabobank, as well as AgroFresh, Beta San Miguel, Graincorp, Griffith Foods, Grupo Azuca de Mexico, Nestle, OSI and Tate & Lyle. BoMill will be focused on quality sorting of durum wheat and malt barley by using their proprietary near-infrared technology transmittance (NIT) where every single kernel is sorted to its’ internal properties e.g. protein.

Founded in 2016, TERRA is a global innovation accelerator fuelling ground breaking transformation in Food & Agriculture in order to advance the well-being of our people and our planet. The program brings together experts, decision-makers, and innovators across the entire value chain – fostering connections that catapult major breakthroughs into scalable solutions by pairing emerging growth companies with established multinationals, in a pilot-driven engagement that leads to tangible results.

“We are very proud of being selected as one of the “most innovative startups in the field”, by TERRA Food & Agtech Accelerator. BoMill will prove the possibility to unlock the full potential and thereby capture the true value of the grain as well as contributing to a more sustainable grain industry. As long as you have quality variation there is a hidden value to be captured. We are very excited about being a part of this program and the impressive network within TERRA, says Karin Wehlin, Managing Director of BoMill.

The TERRA team reviewed hundreds of applications from emerging growth companies around the world, shortlisting 160 applicants for only 17 spots. Startups selected represent eight countries. Unlike other accelerators, TERRA does not require equity from selected start-ups. They must have a product in market/ready to launch and have raised a minimum of seed-funding, better positioning them for productive pilot partnerships with corporate collaborators. BoMill is an emerging technology company challenging the grain business.

Capagro leads a SEK 20 million round in BoMill 12 October 2018. Author: admin

Paris, France, 12 October 2018 — Capagro is investing SEK 15,6 million in Malmö, Sweden-based BoMill AB, which has developed high-speed grain sorting equipment. The previous owners are also participating in the share issue, totaling SEK 20 million.

BoMill’s unique High Precision Quality sorting of Single Kernel technology can be used to sort Durum wheat, Soft wheat, Malting barley, Spelt and Oats on Fusarium (DON), Protein, Vitreousness, Seed quality and Falling number with a speed of 25,000 kernels per second or 3 ton/hour. This makes the TriQ very profitable for businesses within seed cleaning, grain handling and milling activities.

The customer, e.g., a mill or grain trader, can separate high-quality kernels for the consumer market from animal feed. This is traditionally done through spot checks, but that only measures the mean value of a grain lot. With BoMill’s grain by grain sorting technology, mill or grain trader will be able to monetize part of the lot that is of good quality instead of wasting its entirety.

“We are proud to support Bomill in its news phase of development and allow the Company to access the large optical sorter market by leveraging its unique proprietary high accuracy sorting technology. Indeed, with its innovative sorting solution, BoMill perfectly meets the worldwide customer requirements for quality and food supply security and safety”, states Tom Espiard-Cignaco Capagro’s Managing Partner.

Karin Wehlin, Managing Director of BoMill says: “Capagro ‘s investment give us a privileged access to a highly relevant network of partners and sectoral expertise to accelerate our commercial development in the French and international markets.

Julie Peyrache, Investment Director at Capagro adds: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with Karin Wehlin and her team, whose talent and commitment have allowed BoMill to reach major technological and commercial milestones. We are looking forward to leveraging our network of partners and our expertise for the benefit of BoMill’s development ambitions.

Johan Bjurmar
Over 17 years of multilingual and intercultural marketing and sales experience in the international agricultural machine business working with innovative solutions to improve food quality and increase sustainability. BoMill provides a tool enabling companies to increase, or unlock the full potential of, the value of their total yield, when having variating quality levels in the grain, by separating quantities of grains, with higher value than the average, into different batches. This is done with internal grain analyses, by using NIR/T and single kernel sorting. I see a great sales potential in BoMill’s unique identifying and sorting system for grains in many different applications and look forward showcasing how value can be added for customers in new markets. Always driven by offering each customer a customized solution and creating a trustfully relationship I really look forward joining the team.
